The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is
placing its electoral hopes on Usman Khan Tarakai, who happens to be the uncle
of Shahram Khan Tarakai, a former provincial minister in the Pakistan
Tehreek-i-Insaf government. Their strategy is geared towards securing victory
in the upcoming election in NA-20, Swabi-II.
In a constituency boasting 557,897
registered voters, with a notable 259,332 being women, the electoral landscape
is competitive, featuring ten candidates, five of whom are independents. Usman
Tarakai, carrying the PPP ticket, finds himself in a significant showdown
against Shahram, all while navigating internal discord within the party and
contending with the loss of the PTI’s emblem.
Adding to the complexity, the PPP and
PML-N have collaborated to rearrange seats for NA-20, elevating the electoral
contest between the Tarakai family members to heightened importance.
In this crucial election, the political
dynamics are further complicated by Shahram's conspicuous absence from the
campaign and the ANP's declaration of a political rebirth. These factors may
tilt the favor in Waris Khan's direction, creating a scenario where the
intricate interplay of alliances and internal dynamics will shape the outcome.
