The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications, in collaboration with telecom operators, will launch the much-awaited initiative to provide mobile devices with easy installments on January 12, 2024.

Acting Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecom, Dr. Umar Saif, while speaking to a group of journalists, said that a telecom company is also considering offering Apple iPhones at a discount. installment payments.

The minister said the aim was to encourage responsible financial behavior and ensure that access to smartphones continued to grow. He said that under this policy, telecom companies will have the option to provide smartphones directly to customers through installment plans, thereby expanding the benefits of mobile broadband, especially among low-income groups in Pakistan .

Dr Saif announced that 5G would be launched in July next year and 300 MHz of spectrum would be auctioned. From the establishment of spectrum auction advisory committees to the steps required to lay a network of fiber optic cables across the country and effectively implement right-of-way policies, the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SFIC) All decisions will be taken in the interest of the country.

He added that there are currently around 200,000 kilometers of fiber optic cables in the country, connecting 6,000 mobile towers, which need to be upgraded. The expansion of the fiber optic cable network will increase the connection speed and provide better internet facilities to the users.
