Imran Khan received significant relief from Lahore High Court

The Lahore High Court has reinstated seven bail petitions filed by Imran Khan in an anti-terrorism court in nine cases in May.

LAHORE: PTI founder Imran Khan has obtained substantial relief from the Lahore High Court. A two-judge bench headed by Justice Alia Neelam of the Lahore High Court delivered its verdict on Imran Khan's petition. The Lahore High Court reinstated bail in seven of the nine cases filed by Imran Khan with the anti-terrorism court in May, but the anti-terrorism court suspended Imran Khan for disobedience.

On August 11, 2023, an anti-terrorism court rejected requests for interim bail in seven cases, including the Jinnah House attack case. Imran Khan's candidature was rejected due to his failure to appear. Imran Khan filed a petition in the Lahore High Court seeking cancellation of interim bail in the case registered on May 9, and the police also became a party.

In the petition, it was claimed that the petitioners continued to appear before the anti-terrorism courts, but the trial court had passed judgment in favor of Imran Khan in the Tosha Khana case. Police arrested the former prime minister and transferred him to Attock prison, but an anti-terrorism court denied him bail for insubordination. The petition ruled that the August 11 anti-terrorism court verdict should be set aside and a two-judge bench headed by Justice Alia Neelam of the Lahore High Court also ruled that former PTI president Muhammad Waqas He , had been arrested on suspicion. This decision was also reserved in relation to the bail application.
