Dry winter ends, Rain and Snow warnings continue, PDMA


LAHORE: Rain and snowfall warning has been issued in the country. According to details, the Punjab PDMA has issued a rain and snow warning to the administration, indicating that there is a possibility of rain in the plains of Punjab and snow in the hilly areas from today until 'to January 31. Light to heavy rains are expected in Murree and Guriyat areas from January 27 to 31, while Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Mianwali and Sargodha are expected to receive rains on January 30 and 31.

A PDMA spokesperson said the PDMA has appealed to the Punjab administrations to remain vigilant as road conditions may deteriorate due to snowfall in Murree and Galiat and tourists should be informed. Landslides may occur in mountainous areas and roads may be closed, so be prepared for sudden cold.

There is also a 24-hour information exchange system between the state and national agencies, rescue organizations are on alert 24 hours a day taking into account weather conditions and information is communicated to the public through the through the main and local authorities. The government has been instructed to take special precautions to ensure the safety of tourists coming from abroad, and the traffic police have been tasked with providing regular weather information, including on fog.

In rainy regions of the country, where crops depend on rain to meet their water needs, the lack of rain in these regions for the past two months is likely to have a negative impact on this season's wheat harvests. There are fears that lack of rain could reduce wheat production in Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal regions, while wheat crops in Poswar region may be damaged due to lack of rain in the last two month.
